About Our Pastor
Rev. Dr. Lovely Haynes

Pastor Lovely Haynes was born August 23, 1941 in Grand Bayou, Louisiana to Joseph and Mary Haynes. He received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of nine. He was baptized and became a member of The Bright Morning Star Baptist Church, Abington, Louisiana, Rev. Charlie Henry, Pastor.

Lovely joined Miss Delores Kady in Holy Matrimony March 6, 1960. Delores died August 15, 2006. He has two sons, Tony Ray and Daryl Glen, and one daughter, Deborah. He has two granddaughters, Alexandria and Ashley.

He surrendered and accepted the call to the ministry in 1966. He was licensed and ordained to preach the same year by the late Dr. Thomas Matthew Durr, Pastor, St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. On July 9, 1980, he was nominated and elected pastor of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. He is also a member of Bethel Baptist Church of South LA, Pastor Reginald Pope.

He holds an Associate in Arts Degree from Compton College, and an Associates of Theology and a Bachelors of Theology from the California Missionary Baptist Seminary, Bellflower, California. He also attended Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California & Biola University in La Mirada, California.

In 2004, Pastor Haynes began attending Faith Seminary in Tacoma, Washington where he received the following degrees: Master of Theology Studies, 2005; Doctorate of Ministry, 2007; and Master of Divinity, 2009.

He served as Moderator of the Pacific District Missionary Baptist Association from 2000 to 2008. He is an instructor for the Bethany Christian Bible College. He served as 1st Vice President of the California Missionary Baptist State Convention, and he also served as Vice Moderator of Moderators, he currently serves as Chairman of the Commission of Benevolence to the National Missionary Baptist Convention.

Dr. Lovely Haynes is a compassionate, prayerful, and concerned man of God whose ministry to St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church extends beyond the local church to families, extended family members and friends throughout the community.
